Sustainable period scheme
Contact the women’s officer to arrange a refund of half the price of your sustainable period product, up to £15.

We are a 'mature' college, therefore if you have periods you have probably had it for the last 5-10 years. You are so used to your period that you don't even think twice when you mindlessly put on your pad or tampon, half-asleep in the middle of the night of your first period day. You almost instinctively know when your period is coming, even if you don't mark that on your calendar. You sometimes plan things to not happen during your periods. Would you try something new for your period? Well, maybe you should.
Each year, western women dispose of about 20 billion used pads and tampons. An average woman will use as many as 17,000 pads and tampons in her lifetime. These numbers might make your environmentally cautious-self cringe and wonder what could be done differently. If you would like to try switching to a sustainable period product, like a menstrual cup, reusable pads and panties or a multiple-use tampon applicator, then we are happy to help! The Eddies CR has launched the sustainable period products scheme since Michaelmas 2020, through which you can buy the period products of your choice and have 50% of their value reimbursed by the CR!
If you are already using a sustainable product you are still eligible to participate in our scheme when buying a new one. We have a list of providers to check out, but you are not limited to them. For now, the CR is reimbursing a maximum of 15£ per person to make sure the scheme is accommodating as many people as possible.
The scheme covers most sustainable period products, including but not limited to, reusable tampon applicators, period cups, and reusable period panties and pads.
